Jigsaw Rains
Staying with the puppy theme, I must tell you about the excitement of Friday night, all totally frustrating at the time. Up here in the sticks of Northumberland (and I'm sure in many other parts of the country) we were subjected to gale force winds and torrential rain. Me being the softy that I am, couldn't settle knowing that six, four week old puppies and their mummy huddled together in a large double garage-converted kennel trying to shelter from the elements of water leaking in and an unbearably loud wind trying hard to tear the roof away. One half of the kennel was incredibly damp so the Farmer, Amy and me, trundled across the drive and rescued our little brood. We brought them inside the house, to the safety and warmth of the boot room. It's a cosy little room with a tiled floor. I laid a quilt down for extra cosiness, covered by 2 dog towels. Carrying two pups each we put them all down and watched as they each had a baby wee, then a little sniff, venturing into the kitchen where some of them had another wee. They were a little cautious at first, unfamiliar surroundings, but they soon settled on the quilt and mummy barked furiously as we closed the door and said goodnight. They were content when we went down in the morning, slightly wet towels but all fine and dandy. The sky remains off-white and a little rain has fallen but the winds, even though died down a little, will hopefully dry the kennel and allow us to put pups and mum back either later today or tomorrow. Problem is, they're beginning to look quite at home where they are...! Oh, and did I tell you we're now keeping two puppies? Sorry, Irene! But I managed to talk the Farmer round (I've got charm, you see) and the female pup who hadn't been claimed is now all mine. I've called her, Meg. I have plans for her but I'll disclose them when she's a bit older. Four collies at Jigsaw Farm, another dream come true.

Phew! Did it rain! Still is here but not as bad!...well not yet anyway!
fun times. knew those pups would be hard to give up. smiles. hope you have a great weekend.
It's cold and dreary here, too. Hard to believe it's July. I'm sure those pups and their mum were thrilled to be warm, dry and with things a bit quieter.
Congratulations on keeping one to yourself.
Oh that has so made me smile :D I had an inkling you might keep one.....but two?? ooh!
VR x
The rain and wind was fierce! I would not blame you for letting them in more cosier surroundings!
I would not blame you for wanting to keep some puppies either!
I am not surprised you are keeping another. Meg will be an awesome addition I am sure. Thanks for sharing the heartfelt comfort.
You are a big softie like me! I would have done the same.
Another little pup to look after! Great name..... Meg, Madge, Maggie, Margie..... all derivatives of Margaret!
I have a soft spot for puppies, don't we all and for the name Meg.
It is the titled of my [unpublished] two volume Historical adventure novel, and I typed that name more often than I have had hot dinners.
You're not making all this up just to pull at our heartstrings, are you?
Oh Crustal, you and your charms, they will be the downfall of you yet! But I'm happy for you that you get to have a puppy named Meg, it's a pretty name, and while we're at it, why not keep them in the boot room on that cozy quilt? It seems so much better than the barn.
I know how to spell your name, it's Crystal!
You old Softie!!Hahaaa...I would have done the Same thing!!hughugs
I'm glad you brought them in out of the rain. I wonder if they will actually be returned to their quarters .. smiles.
Don't blame you. I'd have probably ended up having them in my bed!!
Ha-ha! I believe in an earlier post I predicted that you would not only keep one. Mewah.
Irene - I just couldn't stop pestering him! And eventually he caved..!
Rosiero - My bed is an option. Good idea !!
Thank you for your comments, CJ xx
Those 4 collies will have such fun! As Amy will too, looking after them. Good decision!
Four dogs would me my nightmare, rather than my dream! My tiny house would bulge at the seams...
Glad the rain is over.
I'll bet those pups never go out into the garage again!
We could do with some of that rain, CJ!
Aw, I for sure would have done the same... how sweet!!!
That was such a touching little story, CJ! I absolutely would have done the same. The puppies continue to tug at my heart, they are so sweet! Glad to hear you're now keeping two...animals and children are God's gift, so who can put a limit on that? <3
Watch out, they'll be sleeping on your bed in next to no time!! :-)
Oh, how wonderful it all sounds. not the rain but the puppy adventure :) TFx
Aw, puppy days - so enjoying the puppies growing up and delighted you're keeping another one! Puppy bliss! :-)
Just a quick post to say WELL DONE on making the top 5 in the Tots100 index
We have moved (sorry) to www.whosthemummy.co.uk but please do come and check us out!
Sally
You certainly know how to make me jealous don't you! Seriously though, I'm glad you're keeping two of the pups and I'm also glad that you brought the family in during the storm. Now you've set a precedent haven't you!!
Blessings, Star
The kennel is drying out and we hope to be able to put the pups back tomorrow. I dare say they've enjoyed their time indoors.
Now, where did I put my mop?!
Thank you for your comments, CJ xx
Our puppy strays look so much like your Collies...well, at least two do...from my untrained eye~!
We brought them in, too and now we are paying for it! They love to come inside and sneek into the cat's food-Yum! They broke the screen door, which my handy hubbie was able to repair. It's so difficult to give them boundaries but an absolute must if we are to have peace of mind.
Thanks for coming over and visiting (OWL) blog, CJ. We're having plently of hot and humid weather in Puerto Rico. Today, just as I was hanging clothes on the line, the rain started! Now, it's warm and sunny again.
Your storm seemed so powerful. No wonder you settled the pups in the house. We do get tropical storms sometimes. One totally distroyed our storage shed a couple years ago.
Thanks for following, I'm glad I found your blog! <3

One can never have too many collies!
Six squirming puppies and an anxious mom. Quite the collection in the boot room.
And of course you've got charm. That's why the Farmer gets frisky, from time to time.
