Good Friends

Yesterday I had the immense pleasure of meeting up with a very good friend I've met through writing circles, Michelle Betham. She's the author of many fabulous books and as most are particularly racy in content, leaving you rather hot under the collar, I knew I'd be in for an interesting afternoon. The waiter in Frankie & Benny's where we ate was desperate to take our order and came back a few times before we were ready; a word to the wise, don't rush women when they're deep in conversation. A delicious meal was had by us both before we carried on to Cafe Nero for a pot of tea (Michelle) and decaffeinated coffee (me). More chatting, more laughing, neither of us wanting to have to go our separate ways. I took my camera and we collared some poor guy on our way out who didn't look too impressed at me asking if he'd take a picture of us, but took it anyway. And as it happens, he made quite a good job of it. Michelle is an amazing woman and after our few hours spent together, not to mention the endless chatting we do online, I feel I've made a very good friend.

Do check out Michelle's latest book, Striker, a very entertaining read with much frivolity, sex and well-written scenes.

  1. It's fabulous to meet up with people you've spoken to so many times on social media. I remember when I met up with the Love A Happy Ending Bunch last year and when I met Nicky Wells in the loo, we just squealed a lot and hugged a lot too!

Sounds like you had a lovely time. Perhaps we I eventually do come to stay, we could meet up for a coffee with Michelle again. I don't think anyone would be able to get a word in edgeways!

Lovely to hear about your great day.

  2. Although we are members of FFP we're quite faceless really, only connecting electronically in a remote way with words rather than as flesh and blood human beings doing a face to face. So it's great to be able to make that human connection - glad you both had such a fab day and hope you have many more! xx

  3. It really was so, so lovely to meet up with Kathryn. I'm usually quite shy around people, but with Kathryn it was just so easy to chat away as if we'd known each other for years! I had such a lovely time, and I really do hope that I've made a great new friend.

Oh, and Kim, if you do come up to the north east, it would be lovely to meet you too! :) xx

  7. How lovely to meet up. Writing is a solitary and rather mad occupation - only another writer really KNOWS what it is to live with the obsession. It's easy to become something of a hermit and not go out at all, let alone meet up with other writers. Glad you had a such a lovely time and make sure that it's not a one off. Gilli x

  11. WOW that's fantastic! I'm really quite envious of you girls meeting up. All my social networking author pals are in UK, US, Australia and elsewhere... not any are in Portugal! Another reason why I'm excited to be moving back to England!!
